Twin Cities Special Masters

A special master is a neutral third party appointed by a court, with the consent of the parties, to assist in resolving legal disputes. Special masters are often appointed in complex trials in which there are numerous disputes over procedural issues or discovery. With the assistance of an experienced special master, these disputes can often be resolved in a relatively quick and efficient manner, speeding the trial process. A consensual special master has the full authority of a sitting judge and his or her rulings are binding.

At Gilbert Mediation Center, many of our neutrals have experience serving as special masters on a wide variety of cases. These cases have included discovery disputes, procedural issues, preliminary fact-findings, and recommendations both as a special master and as a consensual special master appointed by the court.

Our special masters can facilitate the resolution of legal disputes in any area of law, including business litigation, personal injury, family law, employment disputes, estate litigation, real estate litigation and more.

This service can also be provided in an unbundled manner where just one or more aspects of the dispute can be decided, thus helping to move a case towards conclusion in a more timely and efficient manner.
