Shawn Bartsh

Mediator / Arbitrator

Shawn Bartsh has a broad background in mediation and served as a district court judge for over eleven years. Prior to taking the bench in 2013, she was a civil practitioner for over 30 years. Before starting her own firm, she was with Karon, Jepsen and Daly. She handled cases in both state and federal court, including product liability cases across the nation. While in practice, she conducted arbitrations and mediations for the AAA, Better Business Association and individual litigants.  She was the editor of the Minnesota Cause of Action Manual – a comprehensive guide to civil causes of action – and authored the Trial Lawyers Reference Guide to the Neck and Back. She also served as a conciliation court referee in Ramsey County.

While serving as a judge, she conducted numerous settlement conferences. These settlement conferences involved a wide variety of cases*, and over 90% of the cases were able to resolve short of trial. She presented on Judge Facilitated Settlement Conferences at the Minnesota District Judges Educational Conference.
